About Us

5Rivers Foundation took its name from the Punjab region in India, where the tributaries of the Indus River -- Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, Beas -- connect. Punjab has a long history and rich cultural heritage and is the historical homeland of the Sikhs. Protecting the religious and political rights of all people and preventing discrimination is an integral part of the Sikh faith, a strongly shared mission with 5Rivers Foundation.

The 5Rivers Scholarship Program provides financial support to Sikh students who are motivated to pursue higher education opportunities but lack the financial resources to get there. The 5Rivers Scholarship Program works with a network of Sikh community organizations to identify candidates and provide additional support and resources to ensure the award recipients have ongoing academic, spiritual and personal support, as well as opportunities to deepen their connections within and beyond their community.

5Rivers Foundation is also actively involved in promoting social awareness, education, and the preservation of history by supporting select Sikh organizations to achieve this purpose.
